Simon Marshall

Former student and Crawley Green FC coach Simon Marshall has taken on a new business in a bid to inspire today’s children with a passion for fitness.

The 21-year-old, who completed a BTEC in sport as well as obtaining his Level 1 and 2 FA coaching badges, has taken on his own franchise under the wing of the UK’s biggest coaching company, Premier Sport.

Simon, who has been working as a coach for the company for two years, will be working across Luton delivering breakfast, lunch and after school clubs in up to 21 sports as well as curricular time coaching in PE lessons.

Before joining Premier, Simon, who already delivers curricular time coaching as well as lunch and after school clubs in Wigmore Primary, spent time coaching football and rugby in the USA and New Zealand.

He will offer PE coaching both in and out of school hours as well as holiday camps with his team of coaches under the Premier Sport umbrella – with eight new school clubs due to start in January 2010.

Simon has already raised £1500 with a sponsored shoot out at Wigmore School, which will be used by the school towards more sports coaching.

“Premier Sport is the UK’s biggest provider of kids sports coaching. It has good people involved and is a professional set up which already knows the road to success.

“I see this as a way I can show the children that success and enjoyment in sport is achievable. I want to help improve the way our children learn sport, and instil them with the confidence they need to succeed. Above all, sport should be fun and everyone, of any ability, should enjoy joining in.”
